All the fuss and noise made about this before hand, but the implementation was done well, and AFAIK it's not being misused. Don't actually see it being used very often actually.
I think the crucial thing was including a consent system, so only posts whose authors want them to be quoted can be quoted.
People can set their quoting consent to off by default, so they can avoid being quoted entirely.
Yeah the user controls for it are very good.
@FediTips Sorry about off-topic question, but I really don't know whom to ask. I wanted to create a special account mostly for news and announcements about software and services my small company provides. I'll of course respond to support requests and engage in communication, but it's not planned to be a personal account, rather a company-focused thing. Would you suggest an instance where it's appropriate? Ideally with more than 500 character limit. Main focus is accessibility-first software. Thanks!
Hmm... I don't know an instance that would fit that exactly, but my other site at https://fedi.garden lists instances that are well-run and reliable if that's any use?
If it's a profit-making company you might want to check with the admin first though that it's okay to promote your software. Some instances are fine with this, others aren't.
This is a Bonfire Federated social instance for those that enjoy gnarly adventures. Whether it's shredding mountains or slaying guitars, from action sports to art.
