“I have to say it very directly to the #UnitedStates: It makes absolutely no sense to talk about the necessity for the #USA to take over #Greenland,” #MetteFrederiksen said in a statement.

“The USA has no right to annex 1 of the 3 countries in the Kingdom of #Denmark,” Frederiksen added.

Frederiksen noted Copenhagen already has a defense agreement with Washington granting the #US extensive access to Greenland.

#Trump said Sunday night that the #UnitedStates needs #Greenland 1 day after the #US’ remarkable ouster of another country’s leader.

“We need Greenland.…It’s so strategic right now. Greenland is covered with Russian & Chinese ships all over the place,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One. “We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security, & #Denmark is not going to be able to do it.”
