Never not thinking about the time a #startup I was working with posted the following on Slack:
“Happy #internationalwomensday to Jenna, hopefully next year we’ll have more!”

I had a reminder last night that there's still a long way to go. A man banged repeatedly on my door very late last night, and it scared me so badly (I was alone). A neighbour came over, and we figured out it was a teenager doing a stupid tiktok challenge.

But the panic I felt over my physical safety was very real. That the first thing I assumed is violence. Not a prank. Because that's a more likely threat model.
I can't wait for the day that is no longer true.

Happy #InternationalWomensDay! 💐 About 1/4 of employees at the @openhomefoundation identify as a woman - today we highlight just a few of those who work both behind the scenes and front & center on the foundation's projects.
Meet Annika, Ilenia, Laura, and Nadine! 🥰
Many know Ada Lovelace, but too few know about women like Mary Allen Wilkes, who wrote most of the software for the first "personal" computer—the LINC.
Here are stories of modern and historical women in tech and digital rights that inspire us. How many did you already know? #InternationalWomensDay

Every single day, the importance of holding on to our right to privacy grows. It’s a shield against discrimination and a tool for empowerment, central to equality in all forms.
Today we celebrate the women in our community, and all the women leading the fight for strong data privacy and digital rights.
Happy International Women’s Day!

It’s 2026, and some people still believe women don’t belong in tech. But we're here to prove them wrong. 😌
At Vivaldi, women are cofounders, sys admins, developers, QA engineers, HR, community specialists, and office managers. 🔥

"I know that many men and even women are afraid and angry when women do speak, because in this barbaric society, when women speak truly they speak subversively - they can't help it: if you're underneath, if you're kept down, you break out, you subvert. We are volcanoes. When we women offer our experience as our truth, as human truth, all the maps change. There are new mountains.
That's what I want - to hear you erupting. You young Mount St. Helenses who don't know the power in you - I want to hear you. I want to listen to you talking to each other and to us all: whether you're writing an article or a poem or a letter or teaching a class or talking with friends or reading a novel or making a speech or proposing a law or giving a judgement or singing the baby to sleep or discussing the fate of nations, I want to hear you. Speak with a woman's tongue. Come out and tell us what time of night it is! Don't let us sink back into silence. If we don't tell our truth, who will? Who'll speak for my children, and yours?"
— Ursula K. Le Guin, from her 1986 commencement address at Bryn Mawr College (published in Dancing at the Edge of the World: Thoughts on Words, Women, Places).

I don't need roses, flowers, and "happy day" wishes. I need #equalRights, #equalPay, and a change of our (again) hyperpatriarchal societies. Not only on paper but in life. The backlash we experience since our fights in the 1970/80s, makes me angry, not happy. And it should be clear that #feminism includes the fight for #transRights and those for #LGBTQ. #Democracy must live #diversity. Authoritarians treat us as enemies. Let's stand together!

Good morning, Fedifriends!
Happy International Women's Day ✨✨✨
The same things are said on this day each year but all kinds of women are still being abused, underpaid, undervalued and taken for granted.
The fact we still _need_ to have an IWD says it's not taken seriously by governments.
On International Women’s Day, we honor all those women who refuse to be sidelined, no matter the odds. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/commentary/2026/03/06/world/hong-kongs-democracy-fight-is-also-a-battle-for-womens-freedom/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #commentary #worldnews #internationalwomensday #hongkong #china #chowhangtung #jimmylai #chinesecommunistparty #ccp #tiananmensquare #carmenlau #tedhui #nationalsecuritylaw #gwynethho #franceshui
For #InternationalWomensDay I don't want flowers, I want for every flower you didn't buy to speak up when you hear sexism from anyone.
Fuck flowers on #IWD. Only action will bring change.
Today is International Women's Day.
Heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful women in the fediverse, who help create it, maintain it, advance it, and use it.
May we all - especially men - continue to work towards, and behave to ensure, a fediverse that is safe, enjoyable, and useful for women everywhere.
Once again, International Women's Day has fallen on the same day as the start of Daylight Saving Time, because for every day a man earns, a comparably-qualified woman only earns 23 hours.
