A snapshot taken on the platform of an underground Muni transit tunnel, taken while I was heading home from SantaCon. The photo shows a blurry streetcar streaking past the platform while a blurry young man in a yellow tufted down jacket walks towards the boarding area. It's a colorful photo, with tons of yellow on the ceiling and along the platform edge. The streetcar has orange streaks and purple signage, and the overhead station sign is bright green. In the photo, everything moving is blurry... and everything that is supposed to be stationary - like the ceiling and walls and floor - is not. This is a good thing.

Taken last winter. A view from the shore over a frozen bay on Lake Michigan. On the left a wharf heads out into the bay. In the distance there is a white lighthouse. If the foreground is yellow dune grass blowing in the wind. Roiling clouds of blue and white are overhead. It is very cold and windy.

A photograph shows dense forest covered in snow, with the bright sunlight shining through the trees. Tall, dark tree trunks dominate the scene, their branches heavily laden with white snow. The sunlight creates a starburst effect as it filters through the trees, illuminating the snowy ground and undergrowth. In the foreground, there are snow-covered bushes and smaller trees, adding depth to the composition. The sky is a clear, bright blue visible through the gaps in the branches. The warm sunshine does little to lesson the biting cold, but doesn't provide sime sparkle to the icey snow.

A cluster of fungi growing on a tree trunk, heavily covered in bright green moss. The fungi are arranged in dense, overlapping tiers or shelves, characteristic of bracket fungi. The main body of the cap is a warm, earthy brown color, with concentric rings of slightly different shades. The very edge of the caps features a striking, lighter band, providing a strong contrast to the darker brown. A thick layer of vibrant, lush emerald green moss fills the space between the clusters of fungi.

A side view of Santa, standing in a doorway alcove, typing on his phone. In addition to the traditional red and white outfit, Ol' Saint Nick has livened things up with a giant gold chain around his neck. And sunglasses. Santa is also cradling a White Claw Hard Cider because, well, children. Taken in Union Square, San Francisco, at the 2025 SantaCon.

This is a close-up colour photo of a Royal Danish Air Force (Flyvevåbnet) General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon jet fighter accelerating and banking steeply as it climbs out of a desert valley (2015). Centered in the image is the F-16 climbing and banking (turning) steeply to the right. The aircraft, viewed in profile and flying from left to right, has a glossy, medium grey colour. The jet has a long, sharp nose with a two seat cockpit behind. Both the pilot and rear seat occupant can be seen clearly through the canopy, each wearing a helmet and oxygen mask. The canopy appears slightly darkened. Aft of the cockpit are two tapered wings with the leading edge slats and trailing edge flaps extended slightly as the wing grips the air. A thin wisp of vapour trial can just be seen on the inboard section of the right wing, again suggesting the wing is working hard. At the rear is the single vertical stabilizer with the Danish flag at the base and a logo filling the rest of the tail. Below are two tapered horizontal stabilizers. Between these is the single engine tail pipe with a bright orange glow behind from the flaming reheat (afterburner). The flame extends some distance behind the aircraft with five shock cones in view. In the near background beyond the jet is a steep, rock covered arid, canyon wall, devoid of any vegetation and coloured red, brown and grey. In the distant background, say 10 km away, is a mountain ridge. The location: The Mojave Desert, California.
