My spouse has been playing around with the latest model of Claude and realizing a significant part of their job could be automated once similar models are approved for healthcare data.
Between that and realizing how many of my school colleagues use AI for lesson planning I feel this pit in my stomach. Social media post-2005 feels like a certain mistake and moving into outsourcing thinking to models does too.

And I don't think AI is inherently something evil, which is a spicy take for the indieweb community.
I say that as an artist whose traditional media work (that takes 60+ hours for a piece) has been stolen and trained, my heart broken.
I think we need regulation yesterday, compensated, consenting opt-in of all data, and transparency about its use is important. No, we won't get that - I'm not dumb - but I think the distinctions are important since we're plowing ahead towards a hell of slop.
