@dennyhenke One of many things I don't understand about U.S. adventurism in Venezuela: Why should we want more oil? We've already got more than enough in this country, and gas prices are comfortably low.
@markstoneman My lazy, hand-wavy answer: Isn't this just an extension of our general interventionist history with Central and South American countries as a colonial power unwilling to let other nations do their thing? Seems we're always intervening in their affairs for a variety of reasons, often related to the desire to control them either overtly or just as a persistent reminder that the US intents to rule the hemisphere on some level. an ongoing expression of the Monroe Doctrine.
