Here's something from a month ago, when the weather was better (gloomier).

Cape Sable and Cape San Juan at Pier 80, February 14th, 4:15 p.m.

A photo of two large, very red cargo ships parallel parked at a pier, where Islais Creek meets the San Francisco Bay. The overcast sky and the relatively calm waters are brownish. Also brown: the low slung buildings and pier structure on either side of the creek. There are a couple of golden loading cranes in the distance, but that's about it. Just ships and water and sky. No trees.

Roll 1969park05: Berkeley (May 30, 1969)

This panorama was taken on 12 frames stitched together in Photoshop. The fact that I took the set as a panorama and then held on to the negatives for half a century until technology made it possible to render this image is so cool that I'm just going to leave this out here by itself for a day to let you all dig it.

Panoramic photo of 30,000 people taken on 12 portrait-mode frames of 35mm Tri-X stitched together in Photoshop CS6. The final PNG that was downscaled to make this Mastodon image measures 16305x6725 pixels.

So a quick update on something I wrote about last month...

It appears the failed and recently shuttered Westfield Mall / San Francisco Centre has been rescued. A pair of local developers won the bid and purchased the massive, defunct mall for 10 cents on the dollar. Rumor has it they plan to redevelop the mall into a mix of housing, office, and some retail.

Fingers crossed they save the old Emporium dome atop the eastern side of the mall. Speaking of which, from my Lightroom archives, here's a picture I took in December 2009 of that grand old dome. Look at her, all gussied up for Christmas 😘

I'm posting this because my timeline needed something with color to break up the monotony. So that's why you get a close-up picture of a California poppies in bloom.

Friggin poppies. Set in a field of green grass that will turn brown in another 2 months, a half-dozen orange flowers rise from a scraggly base, offering no opiods or anything really useful other than an opportunity for me to test how close I can get with a wide-angle lens before it refuses to focus.

The answer, by the way, is 4 inches.
